In the Beginning: Why'd I start my business?

Well, a pink slip got the ball rolling.
After long days and late nights at a large firm for low pay, I was fired without warning.
No severance. Little valid explanation. And a whole lotta ‘now what?’
Do I spend my career chained to someone else’s vision?
Or do I take the leap and become the master of my own destiny?

That was 15 years ago. Today my studio creates limited edition residences that bring the very best of the world has to offer right to your doorstep.
I always wanted to connect directly with clients, not get information funneled down from the top. Because learning about their curiosities, their fears, and aspirations face-to-face and not just what paint color they like, those are the key ingredients for a truly memorable, distinctive, and authentic home. Without them you’re just creating another showroom concept for the masses.
I’ve made it my mission to champion a revolutionary experience of home that supports not just the way you live, but 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦.
Looking back, that painful yet defining experience was not without its merits.
I realized, like a hip out of place will kill your stride, or a wheel that’s gone askew will eventually pull your car off its intended course, your alignment or lack thereof will dictate your acceleration.
I would have never been satisfied churning out cut-and-paste projects to satisfy the metrics, profits, or ego of some other principal.
Taking charge is just in my blood. And deep down I know I’m born to lead.
While that professional slow down felt like a setback, it ultimately became a set up for an opportunity that would present itself just weeks later and turn that pink slip into gold.
The lesson here is one I’m still learning to this day as the consummate Aries: we can’t all be psychic, but we can be patient.
You have to trust the process, in life, for growth, and most certainly for good design.
