It's built for the aesthetes, the globetrotters, and the power players prone to pass on the obvious choice for the exclusivity of tailor-made design.
In our universe, you can expect to find a futuristic chair from the set of Star Trek as readily as a cast iron clawfoot bathtub customized with high gloss metallic bronze automotive paint, because run-of-the-mill is our biggest taboo.

I believe that each individual space emits a singular resonance, and through the conscientious mining of traditions, inspirations, precedents and perspectives, it can be tuned to reveal the finest parts of itself.
Eager to partner with homeowners hungry to inhabit iconic homes that raise the bar (and the heat) for modern luxury living, Marc launched his studio to combine years of international architecture, interior, lighting and furniture design experience into a powerhouse, multi-disciplinary creative agency.
As creative director of MHLI, he harnesses an intuitive spatial command, obsession with fine detail, pursuit of rare and radical beauty, innate rebellious streak, and reverence for romance to fashion poetic, multi-sensory residences that express the unique identities, curiosities and aspirations of each client.
Marc is a native Bostonian, a graduate of the University of Maryland and Chelsea College of Art and Design in London. When not working, he is an avid distance biker and weight trainer who enjoys all things air travel, film scores, historical documentaries and immersing himself in Italian culture. He remains a vocal advocate for social justice, human rights and Black and queer causes.
OUR STUDIO
Since 2011, MHLI [Marc Houston Lifestyle & Interiors] has conceived residential and commercial projects across the US, including homes in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Houston and Los Angeles as well as corporate offices for Sir Kensington's and Helix Sleep.
Our work has appeared in AD, New York Magazine, 1stDibs Introspective, Rue, Apartment Therapy, Boston Magazine and Cottages & Gardens which bestowed the honor of Rising Star. In 2023, MHLI was named to the top 100 Interior Designers and Architects of the World by Luxury Lifestyle Awards and to the ADPro directory.
The studio accepts a limited number of full-scale commissions each year from clients aligned with our aesthetic and our values and excited about synergistic, mutually rewarding, long term partnerships.

Production
No fretting about the wrong size sofa or keeping track of thousands of project details. We orchestrate all necessary third parties for custom furniture, lighting and millwork and oversee installations to ensure they meet design intent.
Procurement
No waiting around for furniture deliveries that may arrive late or be canceled without notice, or spending hours on hold to remedy a damaged shipment. We manage the entire purchasing process, handle claims, and transport all goods to your home in a single delivery.
Construction Support
No 7am site meetings with contractors or mediating disputes between electricians and painters. We administer the entire bidding process for our clients and act as their liaison for construction matters related to spaces we design.
