My studio fulfills the projects we design from first ideas to final installations. We make all interior selections, generate construction documents, coordinate production, manage purchasing and budget, and provide site support during renovation to ensure work is being performed in accordance with design intent.
Project cost is determined by your unique project brief. Clients typically invest between $250-500 per square foot on furnishings excluding design fees, delivery costs and construction. If you don’t know what your budget is, a realistic investment outlook for work commensurate with images shown is part of our early discussions.

We accept a limited number of commissions each year in order to provide our clients with elevated, personalized service and to allow Marc time and energy to focus on one design at a time. While you'll interact with a number of our team members during the project life cycle, Marc leads the conception and selections for every home.
Clients engage us in the earliest stages of their projects to accompany them in walk throughs with real estate brokers, consult them on improvements to a current home, or guide them during new construction planning sessions with builders. We're happy to collaborate with qualified professionals in service of your goal. Absolutely. We've partnered on projects from Boston to Los Angeles and we tailor our services to each client to ensure they receive consistent, premium care regardless of location. We can discuss your specific needs once we receive your Discovery Profile.
Due to the highly-detailed and custom nature of our projects, all purchases for items we specify are made through our studio. Our full control over the procurement process reduces the margin for error and any resulting additional costs to you.

To protect your investment and relieve you of logistical coordination, our warehousing partners carefully receive, precisely inventory, securely store, and seamlessly transport your furnishings to your home. We're unable to accept liability for any items shipped independent of our firm.
Delivering spaces that meet our quality standards and design intent requires careful attention and is best for those seeking in-person services. We do offer a limited, 1.5 hour design consultation, which can be conducted virtually or in-person.

Before we design, we want to get to know you. Through a multi-step discovery process including a brief questionnaire, a clarity call, and a paid on-site assessment, we evaluate your project's compatibility with our services to establish a shared commitment to success from the start. In advance of authorizing a formal agreement, you'll receive a custom proposal outlining a comprehensive plan for executing the design. Once the required initial payment and contract are received, we'll reserve your place on our design calendar and integrate you into our systems.

Next, we'll photograph and measure the project site, bring in our preferred contractor and trades for initial estimates, prepare working drawings and analyze your submitted preferences to prepare an optimal space plan with furniture layouts and anticipated costs. A detailed presentation including all selections, physical samples, sketches and technical drawings captures our design concepts for your review and approval before advancing to purchasing, production and construction.

Beyond the design phase, we take ownership of the implementation of the spaces we envision by preparing required documents, obtaining and evaluating bids for construction, performing site visits to inspect progress, acting as your liaison with the general contractor and installers, coordinating fabrication of custom furniture, lighting and millwork, and managing the purchase, receipt, inspection, inventory and storage of all approved items.

In this final phase, we orchestrate and oversee delivery, placement and assembly of all furnishings in your home. For a truly turnkey environment, we also procure dishware, linens, soft goods and decorative objects and assist with integrating new or existing collections of art. We maintain long-term relationships with our clients to provide ongoing counsel for room refreshes, new furnishings, growing collections or project additions as life changes dictate.

Depending on project scope, our projects typically range between 10-24+ months including design, purchasing, and construction time.
Our clients understand that thoughtful design is an investment in quality of life, property value, and longevity, and our fees reflect the value of our expertise, access, and results. MHLI charges hourly for all time associated with your project. Additionally, we establish a minimum investment for furniture and materials purchased through our studio as a condition for our engagement. We'll discuss your priorities and expectations during your Clarity Call and advise an investment range for maximum impact and long-term value as part of your Client Intake process.
