I screwed up royally... and it's no one's fault but my own. Please don't make the same mistake I did.

I've been managing luxury renovations for 15 years, but I let a client sway me from what my construction experience had already proven: failing to properly vet your contractor can create unfathomable chaos that will adversely affect your sanity, your timeline and your BOTTOM LINE. This is why at MHLI we only work with our trusted roster of elite construction partners. If a client insists on using their own, they're opening the door to misaligned expectations of quality, poor communications protocls, and increased costs. In this case, the client had to pay to rip out and redo an entire poorly installed wet room, including the cost of tile, substrate and labor.
Since I didn't take my own advice, I'll repeat it here for myself in hopes you'll follow my lead:
DO NOT HIRE THE CONTRACTOR WITH THE CHEAPEST QUOTE, no matter WHAT they promise you, HOW good their work appears, or WHERE they are in the country.
If you're (bravely) acting as project manager for your own construction project, asking the right questions before you sign a contract is critical for ensuring the outcome you want.
How do you communicate site progress?
What are your daily clean-up protocols?
Will there be a dedicated site manager and crew for the duration of my project?
And there is one thing you m͇u͇s͇t͇ do with the answers!
Download your FREE GUIDE here! It's packed with expert tips for vetting your contractor along with additional context for your inquiries and bonus tips to equip you even if you're the novice in the room. I want to share my experiences, spare you my distress and prepare you so you can avoid the avoidable!
