Is Custom Furniture Really Worth it?

Celeste saw our recent post with a dining banquette that, in her words, “made my Aquazurras jealous.”

Well shucks, Celeste. Now you’ve gone and made us blush.

To be fair, the custom channel- tufted buttery leather cushions are damn sexy, as was intended.

Naturally, Celeste now wants a magazine-worthy dining room of her own to debut

at her annual New Year’s Eve soiree, the hottest ticket in town.

It’s November 18, ya’ll.

And unlike her favorite strappy sandals perched comfortably at the local boutique, our

bespoke furnishings don’t come with overnight delivery. Accounting for seat height, back pitch, cushion firmess, arm profile and 13 other production factors to ensure comfort, we craft one-off, site-specific pieces tailored to each client's singular profile.

1) INSPIRATION

Ideas are doodled on a napkin, or captured in shaving cream on a steamy mirror when an epiphany drops during a shower. We draw heavily from literary, historical, cultural and artistic references—like the buxom reclining nude in this Henri Rousseau oil painting spotted at

MoMA which inspired the color and silhouette of this banquette and of the home's wider palette.

2) DEVELOPMENT

We filter site conditions, suitability and client preferences through our own lens of intuition and imagination. Then we rigoroulsy refine each concept with consideration of function, fabrics and details to inject each piece with singular character.

We work intimately with expert upholsterers and craftspeople who share our design philosophy and drive toward distinction and employ both traditional techniques and the

latest in technological advances.
