Marc Houston Lifestyle & Interiors [MHLI] is an award-winning, high-touch, full-service design
concierge committed to delivering wholly transformative spaces. Since 2011, we have developed a national portfolio of residential and commercial projects including homes in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Boston, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Houston and Los Angeles as well as corporate offices for Sir Kensington’s and Helix Sleep. Our work has been featured in AD, New York Magazine, Introspective, Apartment Therapy, Rue, Boston Home,
and Cottages & Gardens which, in 2019, bestowed the honor of Rising Star. In 2023, MHLI was named to Luxury Lifestyle Awards Top 100 Architects & Designers of the World and to the ADPro Directory.
Philosophy
Our design process is one of excavation rather than insertion. We believe that each individual space emits a singular resonance and through the conscientious mining of inspirations, traditions, precedents and perspectives, it can be tuned to reveal the finest parts of itself. Through
rigorous research and perpetual refinement, we conceive and construct immersive, evocative environments
that filter our clients’ desires, personality and style through our lens of intuition and expertise while creatively balancing utility with fantasy and transforming all pain points into moments of ease and joy.
Creative Director
Marc Houston is the Founder and Creative Director of MHLI. After working with a number of acclaimed London and NYC firms, including Fredrikson Stallard, Frank DeBiasi and Workshop/APD, he launched his studio to champion more radical design endeavors and to foster meaningful, synergistic relationships with his clients.
Marc’s early fascination of the constructed world, his innate proportional awareness and his enamoration of beauty inform his practice today, driving him to forge tangible and transcendental connections between user and space. Gleaning from a wide range of cultural, artistic, literary and historical references and energized by the hunt for the rare and distinctive, he seeks to articulate a bespoke and inventive vision of each client’s individual identities, curiosities and aspirations.
Marc is a native Bostonian, a graduate of the University of Maryland and Chelsea College of Art and Design, an avid distance biker, weight trainer and Italophile with entrenched wanderlust. While passionate about his work, he also enjoys all things air travel, avant-garde fashion, film scores, Brutalist architecture, historical documentaries and epicurean pursuits. He remains a vocal advocate for social justice, human rights and Black and LGBTQ causes.
