This 47th-story aerie neighboring NYC's iconic Hearst Tower and just steps from Central Park was pared down to its studs and reimagined as a crisp, cosmopolitan escape. Inspired by the jungle setting and reclining nudes in Henri Rousseau's oil painting 'The Dream,' it employs a series of custom built-ins and furniture pieces to optimize every corner of its footprint, celebrate its sweeping views of the Hudson River and more comfortably accommodate its out-of-town owners and their guests.

NEW YORK, NY

COLUMBUS CIRCLE

Living with art

A monumental canvas by Raymond Hendler commands the entry foyer opposite custom wall shelving placed in lieu of freestanding furniture.  In the dining area beyond, we designed a custom nude leather banquette and rolled steel dining table with legs that echo the forest of trees in the Toshio Shibata photograph hanging above.

Contemporary NYC apartments
Modern white kitchens
Living rooms with window seats

Integrated terrazzo end tables and low storage cabinets bookend a green velvet windowseat which focuses views to the outdoors and disguises unsightly HVAC and A/V components.

Contemporary bedrooms with yellow accents
Beautiful primary bedroom with built in dressing table

Tones of powder blue punctuate the primary suite's neutral palette to calming effect. A sculptural Gastone Rinaldi chair upholstered in silk velvet strikes a note of Old World elegance against Ann Purcell's colorblocked contemporary painting.

MAXIMIZING FUNCTION OF THIS 1200 SQ FT

APARTMENT REQUIRED THOUGHTFUL ADAPTATION OF EXISTING ARCHITECTURE AND STRATEGIC CUSTOM STORAGE ELEMENTS THROUGHOUT.

BEHIND THE SCENES

In the Guest Bedroom, we engineered a solution to improve nvaigation in its tight quarters. Traditional swing doors were removed and replaced with a pocket door at the entry and a full-height, steel framed, bronze mirrored barn door at the closet, its mechanisms disguised by a newly dropped ceiling. Top loading cabinets are integated behind the upholstered headboard and bed frame which rolls out on casters for easy access to the HVAC unit.

IN THE GUEST BEDROOM, A NEW FULL-HEIGHT, STEEL-FRAMED MIRRORED SLIDING CLOSET DOOR IMPROVES

ACCESS IN TIGHT QUARTERS. TOP-LOADING CABINETS ARE INTEGRATED BEHIND THE UPHOLSTERED HEADBOARD WHICH ROLLS OUT TO REACH THE HVAC UNIT.
